All About Clips

Andrea's Beau only uses superior products. We provide our customers with an assortment of clips and headbands from which to choose since hair varies from extra fine to full. Because we've received some questions about the kind of clips we use, we thought it would be useful to explain why we use what we do, and why we believe these items are superior.

French Automatic Clip: This is the finest clip available. It's made in France and is more expensive, but it’s just plain better. Copies usually have a removable metal bar in the middle, which often falls out, rendering the hair ornament unwearable. That’s why we only use the French automatic clip. French clips are perfect for anyone with a full head of hair. We offer this clip in four sizes: 2", 2 1/2", 2 3/4", and 3 1/4" (for women).

Pinch Clip: These sturdy clips are great for pulling back a little bit of hair. Some moms prefer them because they are easy to put on a toddler who's wiggling around. Even older girls and grown women use pinch clips to make a pretty statement. A small strip of velcro has been applied to the inside of each clip as an added guard against slippage.

It's a Banana Clip, 2 1/2" long. Firmly grips a little or a lot of hair. Particularly appropriate on flower clips to pull hair back from the side.

Snap Clip: Like the pinch clip, these clips are wonderful for pulling back a small amount of hair. Most toddler and pinch clip styles may be made with a snap clip if desired. If you want it this way, be sure to ask.

Plastic Toddler Clip: Yes, it’s plastic, but it works! This durable clip stays firmly in most toddlers’ hair. One recent visitor to our booth at the Children’s Club Show in New York called us to say how happy she was that we had given her a sample of this clip, since she did not realize how well it worked until she tried it on her daughter.

Headbands: Our sturdy headbands offer an unusually comfortable fit for girls and women alike. When asked whether one with particularly fine hair can wear headbands, we say yes. A customer taught us a trick: cut a small piece of the prickly side of self-adhesive Velcro (some of which we’d be happy to supply) and affix it to the top of the inside of the headband. The Velcro will prevent the headband from slipping in the finest of hair.

Additional Point: Buyer complaints of messiness and breakage in hair bows spurred Andrea’s Beau to create a better and cleaner way of attaching bows to clips. Whenever possible, each bow is anchored to the clip with heavy thread to create a much more permanent bond. Not only are the bows more attractive, they are longer lasting.
